Regional Storage Buckets

KloudBean Enterprise regional storage buckets give you high-performance object storage pinned to a specific geographic region, with object versioning and lifecycle deletion rules configured to match your compliance requirements. They are ideal when data residency, performance, and retention governance all matter.

Overview

For workloads with regulatory or data-residency obligations, where your data physically lives is as important as how it is stored. Regional storage buckets — provisioned as regional GCS (Google Cloud Storage) buckets — keep your objects within a chosen region while delivering the low latency and throughput of regional storage. On top of that, KloudBean configures versioning and lifecycle rules so your data is both protected against accidental loss and managed in line with your retention policies.

note

Regional storage buckets are configured as part of an Enterprise engagement, tailored to your region, performance, and compliance needs. See Upgrading to the Enterprise Plan.

Managing Your Bucket

Each bucket has its own Object Storage Administration page, where you can see its key details — such as its location (region), environment tag, and visibility (private or public) — and manage everything about it.

Regional storage bucket administration

From the left-hand menu you can:

  • Objects: Browse, search, upload, and download the files and folders stored in the bucket, and navigate its folder structure.
  • Permission: Control who and what can access the bucket.
  • Configuration: Manage bucket settings, including region and behavior.
  • Protection: Manage data-protection settings such as object versioning and lifecycle (deletion) rules.
  • Service Account: Manage the service account credentials your applications use to access the bucket programmatically.

Key Capabilities

Region-Pinned, High-Performance Storage

Buckets are provisioned in a specific region so your data stays where your compliance and latency requirements demand. Keeping storage close to your workloads delivers high performance for reads and writes, while satisfying data-residency rules.

Object Versioning

Versioning keeps previous copies of an object whenever it is overwritten or deleted. This protects you against accidental deletion, unwanted overwrites, and ransomware-style tampering, since earlier versions remain recoverable. It also provides a clear history of changes to stored objects.

Lifecycle and Deletion Rules

Lifecycle rules automate what happens to objects over time — for example, expiring or deleting old versions and objects after a defined period. KloudBean configures these deletion rules in accordance with your compliance requirements, so data is retained exactly as long as it must be, and removed when it should be. This keeps storage cost-efficient while enforcing your retention policy consistently.

Compliance-Aligned Configuration

Versioning and lifecycle settings are designed around the regulatory framework you operate under. The result is object storage that supports data-residency, retention, and protection obligations without manual, error-prone maintenance.

Benefits

  • Data Residency: Keep data within a required region for regulatory compliance.
  • High Performance: Regional storage delivers fast access for your applications.
  • Protection Against Data Loss: Versioning preserves prior copies of objects.
  • Automated Retention: Lifecycle rules enforce retention and cleanup automatically.
  • Compliance-Ready: Configuration is aligned to your specific requirements.

Common Use Cases

  • Storing regulated data that must remain in a specific jurisdiction.
  • Backup and archival targets that require versioning and controlled retention.
  • Media, logs, or datasets that need high-throughput regional access.
  • Any Enterprise workload where retention and data residency must be provably enforced.
