Mission-Critical Managed Databases
Mission-Critical Managed Databases (MCMD) is a KloudBean Enterprise offering for databases where downtime or data loss is simply not acceptable. It wraps your most important data in enterprise-grade resilience, recovery, and access controls — fully operated and safeguarded by the KloudBean team.
Overview
Standard managed databases are a great fit for most workloads. But some databases sit at the center of your business: financial records, healthcare data, transactional systems, or anything bound by strict regulatory requirements. MCMD is built for exactly these cases. It combines disaster recovery, point-in-time recovery, documented compliance evidence, regularly rehearsed recovery drills, and strictly governed access into a single managed service.
MCMD is part of an Enterprise engagement. Scope and configuration are tailored to your workload during onboarding. See Upgrading to the Enterprise Plan.
Key Capabilities
Disaster Recovery (DR)
Your database is protected by a comprehensive disaster-recovery strategy so it can be brought back to service even in the event of a major failure or regional incident. DR is designed and operated by KloudBean, with recovery objectives aligned to your business requirements.
Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
MCMD supports point-in-time recovery, letting you restore the database to a specific moment before an issue occurred — for example, just before an accidental deletion or a bad deployment. This dramatically reduces potential data loss compared with restoring from a single periodic backup.
Compliance Documentation and Evidence
For regulated workloads, having the controls in place is only half the job — you also need to prove it. MCMD includes documented compliance evidence covering how your database is protected, backed up, and recovered, so you have audit-ready artifacts when regulators or auditors ask.
Encrypted, Isolated Backups
Backups of a mission-critical database are protected to enterprise standards:
- Strong encryption: Backups are encrypted using 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard).
- Encrypted at rest and in transit: Data is protected both while stored and as it moves across the network, so it is never exposed in the clear.
- Logically isolated from the environment: Backups are kept logically separate from the primary database environment, so a compromise or failure in the main system does not put your backup copies at risk.
- 35-day retention by default: On Enterprise, mission-critical database backups are retained for 35 days by default, giving you a wide window for recovery and point-in-time restores. Retention can be tailored to your compliance requirements during onboarding.
Regular Recovery Drills
Backups and DR plans are only trustworthy if they are tested. KloudBean conducts regular DR drills on mission-critical databases to verify that recovery works as expected and meets the agreed recovery objectives. The results feed directly into your compliance evidence.
Securely Managed Access
Access to a mission-critical database is tightly controlled and securely managed by the KloudBean team. Rather than leaving credentials and connectivity loosely available, access is governed to minimize exposure — a critical safeguard for sensitive and regulated data.
Benefits
- Minimized Data Loss: PITR and DR reduce the window of potential data loss to a minimum.
- Protected Backups: 256-bit AES encryption, at-rest and in-transit protection, and logical isolation keep backup copies secure.
- Business Continuity: Your most critical systems can recover quickly from failures.
- Audit Readiness: Documented evidence and tested drills make compliance audits straightforward.
- Reduced Operational Burden: KloudBean operates protection, recovery, and access governance for you.
- Confidence Under Pressure: Recovery procedures are rehearsed, not theoretical.
